About Us

The Metropolitan Health Insurance Fund (Metro) was created in 2020 by Joseph G. DiVincenzo as an alternative for larger public entities in the Northern New Jersey area to provide affordable, customizable, health insurance plans for their employees.  The Fund has been incubating as a sub-fund under the BMED/Gateway Fund and the Central Jersey Fund.  In January of 2024, the Metro HIF received all the necessary approvals to become a stand alone fund.

Fund membership is growing, and curently there are 14 public entities that joined.  Metro HIF is one of nine Health Insurance Funds that make up the “hi” family of Funds under the umbrella of the New Jersey Health Insurance Fund, known as the “hi” fund, powered by PERMA.  The “hi” Funds have a 31-year track record for success and fiscal responsibility.
